Some Little Tidbits About Michael & Joannie
Joannie and I have owned and operated Michael Anderson Photography in Mounds View, Minnesota since 1986. In addition to our light painting specialty, we're award-winning wedding photographers as well. We're the only wedding photographers in the world who create light paintings of whole scenes at weddings.
But that's not all. We also create wonderful family, kids, pets, and high school senior portraits, both on location and at our home-based studio. We often incorporate light painting into our high school senior, engagement, pets, and kids portrait sessions too!
Anderson's Portrait Park is our very own outdoor location at our home studio for on-location portrait creation as well. Yes, we've light painted vehicles in our Portrait Park as well.
Over the years, we have studied photography with some of the who’s who of photography, including John Hartman, Ben Shirk, Bruce Hudson, Hanson Fong, Don Blair, Mike Colón, Denis Craft, Clay Blackmore, Denis Reggie, Angela Carson, Monte Zucker, Bambi Cantrell, Ed Pierce, Gary Fong, Eddie Tapp, Scott Kelby, and many, many others.
We’ve been selected for numerous awards for our wedding photography, including The Knot's "Best of Weddings” more than 15 times.
Joannie and I were inducted into The Knot Hall of Fame in 2015.
We've also received the coveted Wedding Wire "Couples' Choice" Award six times.
Expertise has selected us as one of the "The 21 Best Wedding Photographers in Minneapolis" seven times.
Light painting has brought out a new creative edge in our work. It’s that cool, our clients are really loving it, and you will too!
The two buttons below will direct you to our two sister websites. The first will take you to our wedding and portrait site. There's tons of information there, including an extensive blog where you can search for the backstories about almost every light painted image that you see on this website.
The second button will direct you to the website for The Best Santa Experience. What does the have to do will light painting you ask? Well, the majority of the artworks that we create for our clients during our Santa Experience are actually light painted! The Best Santa Experience also helps us to raise lots of money to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. It's a win-win!
